IOCL Recruitment 2025: Apprentice Engagement at Refineries

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Fortune "Global 500" company, has announced a significant opportunity for young aspirants to join as apprentices at its refineries across India. As part of its Skill Building Initiative, IOCL invites applications for engagement as apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973. This recruitment drive spans multiple trades and disciplines at refineries in Guwahati, Barauni, Gujarat, Haldia, Mathura, Panipat, Digboi, Bongaigaon, and Paradip.

Note: The number of seats is tentative and may vary. Reservations for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD/EWS categories are as per government guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following criteria as of May 31, 2025:

  • Age Limit: 18–24 years for General/EWS candidates. Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), and 10 years for PwBD (additional 5 years for SC/ST PwBD and 3 years for OBC (NCL) PwBD).
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD for reserved seats) in the relevant qualification (Class XII/ITI/Graduate/Diploma) from a recognized board/university/institute.
    • Only regular full-time courses are eligible; part-time/correspondence/distance education modes are not accepted.
    • For ITI, only pass marks are required, and the course must be recognized by NCVET/SCVT.
  • Other Conditions:
    • Candidates with higher qualifications (e.g., BE/B.Tech, MBA) or prior apprenticeship training are not eligible.
    • Candidates with more than one year of job experience post-qualification are ineligible for Technician Apprentice roles.
    • Candidates can apply for only one trade/discipline and one refinery unit.

Reservation and Concessions

IOCL follows government guidelines for reservations:

  • SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PwBD: Seats are reserved as indicated in the seat matrix. If reserved seats remain unfilled, they may be filled by other categories based on merit.
  • PwBD: Eligible for codes 102, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, and 111. Candidates must submit a Disability Certificate as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
  • Relaxations: 5% relaxation in minimum qualification marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates for reserved seats. Age relaxations as mentioned above.

Selection Process

There will be no written test. The selection process includes:

  • Merit-Based Shortlisting: Based on the percentage of marks in the prescribed qualification (aggregate of all semesters/years).
  • Tie-Breaker: In case of equal marks, older candidates are prioritized. If dates of birth are the same, higher matriculation marks are considered.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must provide original and self-attested copies of documents, including mark sheets, certificates, and category certificates.
  • Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness: Candidates must meet the medical fitness standards specified in the Apprentices Act.

How to Apply

Candidates must complete a two-step online application process by June 2, 2025:

  1. Step 1: Registration on NAPS/NATS Portal
    • For codes 101, 102, 103, 108, 109, 110, and 111: Register on the NAPS portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in).
    • For codes 104, 105, 106, and 107: Register on the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in).
    • Apply for IOCL’s apprenticeship opportunities using the respective Establishment ID for the chosen refinery unit.
  2. Step 2: Application on IOCL Portal
    • Visit www.iocrefrecruit.in, complete the online application, and select the preferred refinery unit.
    • Upload a scanned color photograph and signature (jpg format, max 50 KB).

Important: Both steps are mandatory. Use the same email ID and mobile number for both portals, and ensure the profile details are 100% accurate. Incomplete or incorrect applications will be rejected.

Benefits and Conditions

  • Stipend: As per the Apprentices Act and IOCL guidelines.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Safety shoes and helmets provided for codes 101–107 (returnable after training).
  • Leave: 32 days general leave (8 days per quarter), 12 days casual leave (pro-rata), and holidays as observed at the refinery.
  • Insurance: Accident insurance coverage provided.
  • No Employment Guarantee: Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment with IOCL.
