Indian Overseas Bank Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2025: Apply for 400 Posts

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading public sector bank headquartered in Chennai, has announced the recruitment of 400 Local Bank Officers (LBO) in JMGS-I for the year 2025-26. Vacancy Details

Overview: IOB is recruiting for 400 Local Bank Officer posts across six states, with candidates required to be posted in the applied state for the first 12 years or until promotion to SMGS-IV. The vacancies are distributed as follows:

Note: Vacancies are provisional and may vary. Reservations for PwBD are on a horizontal basis, and candidates will be placed in their respective categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR).

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India, or subjects of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees (pre-1962), or persons of Indian origin from specified countries with a certificate of eligibility.

Age Limit (as on 01.05.2025): Minimum 20 years, maximum 30 years (born between 02.05.1995 and 01.05.2005).

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • PwBD: 10 years
  • Persons affected by 1984 riots: 5 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 5 years

Educational Qualification: A graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent, with a valid mark sheet/degree certificate indicating the percentage of marks.

Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the local language of the applied state (e.g., Tamil for Tamil Nadu). A language proficiency test is mandatory unless candidates provide 10th/12th certificates showing the local language as a subject.

Experience Incentive: Candidates with prior officer-level experience in Scheduled Commercial Banks may receive one advance increment per year of service (up to 2 increments) if their job profile matches that of an IOB Scale-I Generalist Officer.

Selection Process

The selection process comprises three stages:

Sectional qualifying marks: 30% for reserved categories, 35% for unreserved. A penalty of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates must qualify in the LPT for the local language of the applied state unless exempted by 10th/12th certificates.

Personal Interview: Candidates qualifying in the online exam and LPT will be called for an interview. The final merit list will be based on an 80:20 weightage ratio of online exam and interview scores, prepared state-wise and category-wise.

Application Process

How to Apply: Candidates must apply online through the IOB website (www.iob.in, Careers page) from 12th May to 31st May 2025. No other modes are accepted.

Prerequisites:

  • Scanned photograph (20-50 KB, 200x230 pixels), signature (10-20 KB, 140x60 pixels), left thumb impression (20-50 KB, 240x240 pixels), and handwritten declaration (50-100 KB, 800x400 pixels) in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Valid personal email ID and mobile number.
  • Handwritten declaration text: "I (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required."

Steps to Apply:

  1. Visit www.iob.in, go to the Careers page, and click "Recruitment of Local Bank Officers - 2025-26."
  2. Register online to receive a Registration Number and Password.
  3. Fill in the application form, upload required documents, and click "COMPLETE REGISTRATION."
  4. Pay the application fee via Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI.
  5. Take a printout of the application form and e-receipt.

Application Fee:

  • SC/ST/PwBD: INR 175 (Intimation Charges, inclusive of GST)
  • GEN/EWS/OBC: INR 850 (inclusive of GST)

Emoluments and Service Conditions

Pay Scale (as on 01.05.2025): Rs. 48,480-85,920 (Basic: 48,480-2,000/7-62,480-2,340/2-67,160-2,680/7-85,920), plus DA, HRA, CCA as per rules.

Probation Period: 2 years of active service.

Bond Amount: Selected candidates must execute a Rs. 2,00,000 Financial Service Indemnity Bond for a minimum 3-year service period.

Leave and Travel Allowance: As per bank service rules.

Guidelines for PwBD Candidates

Scribe Usage: Visually impaired candidates or those with affected writing speed can use a scribe at their cost, with a compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour. The scribe must be from a different academic stream and not a candidate for this recruitment.

Compensatory Time: Candidates with locomotor disability, cerebral palsy, visual impairment, or intellectual disability (with at least 40% disability) are eligible for 20 minutes per hour compensatory time.

Document Requirements: PwBD candidates must submit a disability certificate issued by a District Medical Board at the time of the interview.

General Instructions

Key Guidelines:

  • Apply for only one state; multiple applications for the same state will consider only the last submission.
  • Ensure eligibility and possess all required documents before applying.
  • Upload clear, correctly sized images of photograph, signature, thumb impression, and declaration.
  • Candidates in government/PSU jobs need a No Objection Certificate for the interview.
  • SC/ST/PwBD candidates (unemployed, outstation) are eligible for second-class train fare reimbursement for interviews.
  • Canvassing or misconduct will lead to disqualification.
  • Disputes will be subject to Chennai court jurisdiction.
