MoEFCC Announces 21 Winning Entries Under ‘Ideas4LiFE’ to Promote Sustainable Living Across 7 Mission LiFE Themes

On May 22, 2025, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) announced the 21 winning ideas under the Ideas4LiFE initiative, a key component of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). Out of 1,384 entries, the top three ideas across each of the seven themes of Mission LiFE were selected for their innovative and sustainable solutions.

Launch of Ideas4LiFE Initiative

Promoting Citizen-Centric Solutions

The Ideas4LiFE initiative was launched through a dedicated portal, ideas4life.in, in collaboration with UNICEF YuWaah. It invited students, research scholars, faculties, and institutions to submit innovative ideas aligned with the vision of mindful and deliberate resource utilization. Union Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav congratulated the winners, highlighting their citizen-centric and sustainable ideas for fostering an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Seven Themes of Mission LiFE

Addressing Environmental Challenges

The initiative focused on seven key themes of Mission LiFE, encouraging solutions to pressing environmental issues. These themes include:

  • Save Energy
  • Save Water
  • Say No to Single-Use Plastic
  • Sustainable Food Systems
  • Reduce Waste
  • Reduce E-Waste
  • Adopt Healthy Lifestyles

These themes aim to promote sustainable living and address multifaceted environmental challenges through scalable and impactful solutions.

Rigorous Selection Process

Ensuring Quality and Originality

The selection of the winning ideas followed a three-phase evaluation process. In Phase 1, ideas were screened for completeness and originality. Phase 2 involved evaluators from the Department of Higher Education assessing ideas based on innovation potential, feasibility, impact, scalability, and sustainability. In Phase 3, a national jury constituted by the MoEFCC selected the top three ideas in each theme, resulting in the final 21 winning ideas.
