DPIIT and Häfele India Sign MoU to Support Startups, MSMEs and Boost Manufacturing Innovation Under Make in India Vision

On May 07, 2025, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Hafele India Pvt. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi to bolster India’s manufacturing and innovation ecosystem. This development, crucial for competitive exam aspirants, aims to empower product startups, MSMEs, and entrepreneurs, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing hub under the Make in India initiative.

Strengthening Manufacturing Ecosystem

The MoU reflects a shared commitment to building resilient local supply chains and fostering entrepreneurship. Hafele will drive initiatives focused on product innovation, local sourcing, and integration into global value chains through targeted investments and mentorship.

Hafele’s Support for Startups and MSMEs

Access to Resources and Markets

Hafele will provide startups and MSMEs with access to infrastructure, supplier development opportunities, technical collaboration, and market access. The company has already invested over USD 2.5 million in an Indian appliance manufacturing startup and issued purchase orders to Indian MSME manufacturers of architectural hardware and furniture fittings.

Through this partnership, Hafele aims to deepen its engagement with Indian entrepreneurs by offering mentorship and facilitating their integration into global supply chains, enhancing their competitiveness on a global stage.

DPIIT’s Role in Ecosystem Development

Startup India Facilitation

DPIIT will leverage the Startup India platform to connect startups with relevant programs, enable participation in ecosystem initiatives, and support co-branding efforts. This will provide a structured framework for startups and MSMEs to access resources and opportunities.

Signatories and Duration

The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, and Mr. Frank Schloeder, Managing Director – South Asia, Hafele India, in the presence of senior officials. It will remain in effect for two years, with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement.
