NCC Expedition Team with Youngest Climbers Averaging 19 Years Successfully Scales Mt Everest, Marking Third Ascent and Showcasing India’s Youth Power and National Pride

On May 18, 2025, a National Cadet Corps (NCC) expedition team achieved a remarkable feat by successfully scaling Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak at 8,848 meters. The team, comprising 10 cadets (five boys and five girls) with an average age of 19 years, unfurled the Tricolour and NCC Flag atop the summit, showcasing national pride and youth resilience

Rigorous Selection and Training

 The NCC cadets, selected from across India, were novices who underwent a stringent selection process. Their preparation included a pre-Everest expedition at Mt Abi Gamin, followed by winter and technical training at the Army Mountaineering Institute in Siachen Base Camp. From an initial group of 15 cadets10 were chosen for the final Mount Everest Expedition based on their fitness and discipline

Youngest Climbers Shine

 With an average age of 19, the NCC team was among the youngest climbers to attempt Everest. Their physical readiness and high morale during acclimatization training earned praise from Nepalese Sherpas. Despite facing challenging weather and rugged terrain, the cadets demonstrated exceptional endurance and teamwork throughout the ascent. 

Flagged Off by Raksha Mantri

 The expedition was flagged off by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh on April 3, 2025, from New Delhi. This marks the third successful Everest climb by the NCC, following expeditions in 2013 and 2016, highlighting the organization’s commitment to fostering adventure and leadership among youth.
