The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from May 1 to May 15, 2025, across its headquarters in New Delhi and constituent laboratories, aligning with the Swachh Bharat Mission to realize Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and hygienic India. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the fortnight-long initiative reinforced CSIR’s commitment to cleanliness, discipline, and civic responsibility.
A Strong Start with the Swachhata Pledge
The Pakhwada commenced on May 1, 2025, with a pledge-taking ceremony at CSIR Headquarters, led by Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director-General, CSIR, and Secretary, DSIR. Joined by Shri Mahendra Kumar Gupta, Joint Secretary (Admin), Shri Chetan Prakash Jain, Financial Advisor, and CSIR employees, the collective pledge set a motivational tone, emphasizing the importance of sustained cleanliness efforts.
Comprehensive Cleanliness Drives
During the Pakhwada, CSIR conducted extensive cleanliness drives across its premises. Dr. N. Kalaiselvi and CSIR staff actively participated, clearing construction debris and scrap. Special recognition was given to Safai Mitras, who were felicitated for their tireless efforts in maintaining cleanliness year-round. The Civil Section and canteen staff revamped the canteen, enhancing hygiene and user experience.
Digital and Infrastructure Upgrades
The Pakhwada emphasized digital cleanliness by clearing pending e-files in the e-office system. The IT Division provided hands-on training for efficient e-file management. Infrastructure improvements included air conditioning cleaning and water purifier maintenance, ensuring a healthier workspace.
